PROMOTING AND PRESERVING HAND MADE GOODS

EXTRAORDINARY PRODUCTS AND CULTURE

Every purchase from Alma y Manos provides useful income for the artisans and their families. There are no gimmicks and no secrets.  We operate with no hidden agenda and always trade fairly with the artists.

Mexican cultures have developed their own methods and style apparent in their textiles and decorative art. These reflect their history, cultural identity and themes of the natural world. Alma y Manos will showcase these products by providing small capsule collections with select handmade textiles and an evolving inventory.

INSPIRED BY THE MEXICAN PEOPLE

Alma y Manos translates to “Soul & Hands”.  We are a platform that will channel and share the art of Mexican hand crafted textile traditions and techniques.  We want to open the door to the magnetism of its artisans, our purpose is to promote and preserve the folklore and craft.

GIVING BACK

We want to share the things we are passionate about and to generate support for those who have been keeping the craft alive for centuries.  Our partner artisans live simply and entire families often work together to make these pieces.  Alma y Manos will give back 10% of all earnings to the artisans in the form of equipment or materials as defined by local needs.

EARTH FRIENDLY PRACTICES

Most sourcing practices have changed very little over time. Cotton and wool is still locally acquired then dyed naturally with pigments and raw materials from the land such as insects and plants; thread are sun dried before being ready to use into woven and hand stitched textiles.
